
PLANNING: Preparation for Multi-Sectorial Needs Assessment in Nganzai and Gubio Local Government Areas: Maiduguri Local Government Area, Borno State

Six representatives from CNEF, designated as Trainers of Trainers (ToT), participated in this training alongside team members from CASFOD.
Training Content
The training session was focused on equipping participants with the essential tools and methodologies for conducting a comprehensive needs assessment in the Nganzai and Gubio local government areas of Borno State.
Key elements covered include
- Data Collection Protocol: Familiarizing with guidelines and procedures essential for proficient data collection processes.
- KII and FGD: Instructional sessions on conducting interviews and leading group discussions to gather both quantitative and qualitative data effectively.
- Community Needs Assessment Framework: Introducing the framework designed for evaluating multiple sectors such as Health, Nutrition, Protection, WaSH, and Education.
- Comprehensive Assessment of Sectorial Functions and Operations: Equipping participants with insights to ensure a thorough grasp of community needs and challenges across diverse sectors.
Knowledge acquired/Lessons Learned
- FGD Group Size: The FGDs will consist of between seven to eight individuals per group to facilitate meaningful discussions.
- Consent and Confidentiality: Enumerators should seek permission from participants to ensure a smooth and open session. Maintaining confidentiality is crucial to encourage honest responses and protect participant privacy.
Team Formation
Two teams were formed for the data collection exercise:
- Team Nganzai: Headed by Mr. Maina Mathias, assisted by Deborah from CASFOD.
- Team Gubio: Headed by Mr. Bashir Bello Kallau, assisted by Mr. Yakubu Gana from CASFOD.
